Department Business Administration
- The DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (DBA) has a tradition of studies in Accounting and Management. Although considered distinct disciplines at the international level, these studies have been productively integrated in the Italian tradition of business economics. These research areas focus industrial and commercial enterprises, banking and insurance companies, services enterprises, public and non-profit organizations etc. To date, the Department includes 18 full professors, 12 associate professors and 20 researchers. In addition, 8 research fellows and 10 PhD students are currently working in the Department. In recent years, the Department has decided to focus on three streams of research that have cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas: VALUE CHAIN MANAGEMENT; GOVERNANCE, ACCOUNTING AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT; and SERVICE AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT. As regards Value Chain Management, the process of globalization has highlighted the need for the creation of inter-organizational collaborations (network) that represent the unit of analysis in advanced business studies. This trend affects supplier management and logistics, communication between business partners, marketing strategies and so on. With regard to Governance, Accounting and Performance Management, defining appropriate mechanisms for the appointment, remuneration and control of directors and managers is essential for companies and legislators, especially after the recent crises and scandals. Managers rely on Financial, Managerial and Corporate Accounting, Auditing, Accountability, Performance Measurement, Risk Management and Strategy to develop high quality Governance, Accounting and Performance Management models. The diachronic readings of Accounting History play a significant role, as well. Finally, Service and Quality Management is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in services. This is a typically interdisciplinary research field in which many of the Departments’ different skills and competences merge. In particular, the disciplines involved focus on service quality and effectiveness, public services, tourism, innovation technology and services marketing.
